Indigo Family

The modular platform

Discover the modular Indigo

The Vaisala Indigo family is a customizable instrument platform designed to improve process measurements. The Indigo family's key feature is modularity. It contains a selection of transmitters, interchangeable smart probes that measure various parameters, and software for easy interfacing and monitoring of data. Choose any probe and connect it with any of the transmitters, or integrate the probes into other systems. The Indigo platform is built on top of Vaisala’s self-produced, core sensor technologies.

Whether you measure humidity, temperature, dew point, moisture in oil, carbon dioxide, barometric pressure, or vaporized hydrogen peroxide, the accuracy and long-term stability of Indigo-compatible probes are in the class of their own. The probes deliver repeatable measurement with high resolution, providing you with data that you can rely on, which helps you to make better decisions – over the long term.

Humidity and temperature

The Indigo-compatible humidity probes are based on Vaisala’s proprietary HUMICAP® technology recognized for its excellent long-term stability, sensor heating for condensing environments and full recovery from condensation, insensitivity to dust and most chemicals, and chemical purge option. Choose from the following probes to suit your needs.

  • HMP1 is designed for measuring ambient measurement in indoor spaces.
  • HMP3 is suitable for various industrial applications with moderate humidity and temperature levels in industrial HVAC systems, paint booths, cleanrooms, environmental chambers, and applications.
  • HMP4 is for high pressure applications, such as compressed air systems in maritime, breathing air, and industrial applications
  • HMP5 is for high temperature application like baking ovens, pasta dryers, ceramics and industrial drying kilns
  • HMP7 is designed for applications which involve constant high humidity or rapid changes in humidity, such as drying and test chambers, combustion air, and other humidifiers and meteorological measurements
  • HMP8 is designed for pressurized applications in compressed air systems, refrigerant dryers, and other pressurized industrial applications.
  • HMP9 is a compact probe suitable for rapidly changing environments where a fast response time, measurement performance, and chemical tolerance are essential
  • TMP1 is designed for demanding temperature measurements in industrial applications, such as pharmaceutical industry and calibration laboratories

Dew point

The Indigo-compatible dew point probes are based on Vaisala’s DRYCAP® technology whose unrivalled performance is based on the capacitive thin-film polymer sensor and the auto-calibration function. Probes with the DRYCAP sensor deliver accurate measurements in the long term, dramatically reducing the need for maintenance. Choose from the following probes to suit your needs.

  • DMP5 for in-line measurement in high temperature applications <180 °C (356 °F), such as in industrial drying

  • DMP6 for in-line measurements in very high temperatures <350 °C (660 °F)

  • DMP7 for remote installations in tight spaces with measurement range to -70 °C (-94 °F). Application examples include semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial drying systems, compressed air systems, and dry rooms

  • DMP8 for pressurized pipelines <40 bars with measurement range to -70 °C (-94 °F). Typical applications include industrial drying, compressed air systems, and applications in the semiconductor industry

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Indigo-compatible carbon dioxide (CO2) probes are based on Vaisala’s unique CARBOCAP® technology that enables exceptional stability. They are ideal for applications such as incubators, greenhouses, fruit and vegetable storage and cargo, animal shelters and demand-controlled ventilation.
Choose from the following probes to suit your needs:

  • GMP251  for %-level measurements 0 – 20 %CO2 in life science incubators, cold storage facilities, fruit and vegetable transportation, and in all other demanding applications
  • GMP252  for ppm-level measurements 0 – 10 000 ppmCO2 in agriculture, refrigeration, greenhouses, demanding HVAC applications, and for plant growth chamber manufacturers

Vaporized hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Indigo-compatible vaporized hydrogen peroxide probes feature Vaisala’s unique PEROXCAP® technology. which enables accurate and repeatable measurement of the bio-decontamination cycle with one single probe. Choose from the following probes to suit your needs:

  • HPP270 series for measuring H2O2 vapor concentration, humidity and temperature in demanding hydrogen peroxide bio-decontamination processes

Moisture in oil

The Moisture in Oil Probe uses the proven Vaisala HUMICAP® sensor that was developed for demanding moisture measurements.

  • MMP8 is designed for demanding and continuous online moisture measurements in transformer and lubrication oils, hydraulic fluids, and other liquids

Liquid concentration

The Vaisala Polaris process refractometers combined with the Indigo520 for process refractometers offers compelling features for liquid concentration measurements and extend the process refractometer functionalities with data logging, wash control, trends, settings, measurement parameters, and more.

Indigo transmitters

Indigo transmitters are host devices for Vaisala Indigo-compatible, stand-alone smart probes. The local display in the transmitter is useful, when something isn’t clear or there’s a problem, or when performing maintenance work in the field. Also, data from probes is shown on the transmitter display, allowing users to view what is going on. All the Indigo probes can be connected to any of the Indigo transmitters and changed on without interrupting the process, which reduces downtime. Choose from the following transmitters to suit your needs.

  • Indigo500 series transmitter offers dual-probe and multi-parameter support. The touchscreen display provides local data visualization and easy access to probe configuration. The transmitter also extends the options for connectivity, supply voltage, and wiring.
  • Indigo300 series transmitters send measurement values to automation and control systems through pre-configured analog signals, and they can also be used for standalone monitoring.
  • Indigo200 series transmitters allow for easy evaluation and visualization of data.

Indigo handhelds

Vaisala's Indigo80 Handheld Indicator is an industrial-grade portable meter designed for troubleshooting, calibrating, and adjusting Vaisala Indigo-compatible probes. Ideal for spot-checking sensor accuracy, as well as short-term data logging and process monitoring, the Indigo80 can communicate simultaneously with up to two Vaisala probes and transmitters to provide accurate measurements for a wide range of parameters.

Optimized drying process helps Isolava cut energy consumption and improve end-product quality

Isolava began a project to optimize the drying process, led by Project Engineer Peter Vaneyghen. The first step was to install humidity sensors in the dryer in order to get a better understanding of the dynamics of the drying process. The consumption of natural gas alone has decreased by some 20% and the annual savings across all ten dryers add up to hundreds of thousands of euros.
