The Vaisala Polaris PR53W Process Refractometer is the perfect choice for large pipelines to measure aggressive chemicals as it has extreme chemical resistance and just plain durability in the harshest environments.
The PR53W process refractometer is mounted in a membrane‑lined valve body, with no metallic wetted parts included. This allows convenient flange mounting to 2 inch ANSI DN50 flange.

Plug & play to Indigo
The process refractometers can be connected to Vaisala Indigo520 transmitter to expand features, including data storage, graphical interface, analog and digital interface.
Always accurate, no drift
The measurement is based on optical measurement of the refractive index (RI). The RI can be measured from practically any liquid or slurry, and it is sensitive to dissolved material. Bubbles, particles or color do not affect the measurement.
Non-metallic wetted parts, PTFE‑lined valve-body flow cell
The non-metallic wetted parts, and PTFE‑lined valve-body flow cell are suitable to use with aggressive chemicals in pressurized pipelines.
Maximum productivity and safety in hazardous areas
The industry-leading Vaisala Polaris process refractometers offer Ex-certified product versions for hazardous areas.
Depending on selected product option, the refractometers are designed to be installed in either
IECEx/ATEX Zone 0/1 (North America Class 1 Division 1) or Zone 2 (Class 1 Div 2).
The Polaris Ex-versions are Indigo520 compatible to secure maximum productivity.
The Indigo520, and the associated IS equipment in case of Zone 0/Class 1 Div 1, is placed in the safe area.
