The change negotiations in Vaisala’s Weather and Environment business area in Finland have been concluded. Vaisala started the change negotiations in November to reshape the operations and organization in the Weather and Environment business area in Finland. The changes support the execution of Weather and Environment business area’s strategy and performance priorities.

The aim is to continue efforts to improve profitability of businesses operating in more mature, system lead markets, such as meteorology, aviation, and road winter maintenance. And, on the other hand, the aim is to increase investments in growth areas such as renewable energy and energy transition in general as well as accelerating growth of subscription-based data business.

The initial estimate was that the change negotiations could lead to a reduction of maximum 40 positions. The negotiations covered 291 employees in Finland. In total, Vaisala employs over 2,200 employees, of which over 1,400 in Finland.

As a result of the change negotiations, 15 people’s employment at Vaisala will end. A specific change support package has been offered to these employees.

“The negotiations were conducted in a constructive spirit, and I want to thank the employee representatives and everyone who participated in the negotiations for a good cooperation throughout the negotiations. This reshaping is needed to ensure that we can continue to drive Weather and Environment business forward according to our strategy,” says Jarkko Sairanen, EVP, Weather and Environment.
