AviMet® Automated Weather Observing System AWOS Vaisala AviMet® system conforms to all relevant ICAO and WMO weather requirements and provides official weather for your airport as well as includes systems for smaller airports and heliports. The system provides continuous, real-time weather reports for pilots, airport operators and managers and is a fully configurable to cover airport needs of all ICAO categories. Vaisala AWOS systems and solutions are designed to grow with your airport, making them the smart choice for long-term investment. AWOS training Overview A minimum installation of Vaisala AviMet® AWOS consists of field instrumentation, communications equipment, and one Central Data Unit (CDU) which works also as a workstation and runs the software applications. The minimum system can be expanded without any limits to the system size. All critical functions of the system can be duplicated to ensure uninterrupted flow of data. Central Data Unit Central Data Unit (CDU) is the main computer which collects data from the sensors and performs meteorological calculations, generates ICAO defined aviation reports, and continuously carries out diagnostics of the incoming data and the entire system itself. The CDU also stores the measured and calculated data as well as the transmitted reports. The Vaisala CDU can be delivered as hot stand-by system as well. Workstations and Displays Workstations provide easy-to-use interfaces for launching and operating different end-user applications. User profiles are used to manage and restrict usage of applications to ensure that a user is authorized to use the specific software functionality. Each workstation includes all applications and any user can log in from any workstation with their own user profile password. The commonly used workstation set-ups are: Observer workstation, Forecaster workstation, Weather View workstation, and Remote Control and Maintenance workstation. Several display options are available and they can be configured to each user’s preference and needs. Field Instrumentation Vaisala field instrumentation consists of sensors and systems, specially designed for aviation purposes, for collecting data from representative sites along the runway. Seamless Integration The AviMet® system’s open software and system architecture ensure smooth integration of meteorological data into any ATC, airport-wide service and maintenance systems, and other meteorological systems an airport may have. It is always developed to in line with latest relevant ICAO standards and recommendations. Communication Methods Vaisala AviMet® AWOS is designed to interface by various output communication formats and to meet various communication standards and methods. Database The Vaisala AviMet® AWOS system contains a relational database for data storing which enables the generation of meteorological reports like CLIMAT. The data base contain sensor data, meteorological calculation results, sent reports and technical alarms, warnings and notifications for user disposal for trouble shooting or for other post-processing purposes. + Show more Key Benefits Safety through High Performance Many aspects of Vaisala AviMet® AWOS are best in the industry, which means accuracy and reliability for all aviation needs providing the maximal operational safety.
