Nina Eklund (M. Sc. Econ, MA) has been appointed Director, Corporate Communications and Brand at Vaisala as of August 12, 2019. In her role, she is responsible for external and internal communications as well as brand management.

Before joining Vaisala, Eklund worked in several communications management roles at Tieto, most recently as Head of Corporate Communications, also including change and internal communications. Previously in her career, Eklund has worked for example as a consultant at the communications agency Miltton. At Vaisala, Eklund reports to EVP, HR, Mari Heusala.

Video from a drone, computer vision and superfast 5G connections were harnessed for monitoring the Baltic Sea in a trial conducted in Kirkkonummi. In the trial Nokia, Nordkapp, Finnish Environment Institute SYKE, Telia and Vaisala developed new tools for SYKE researchers for monitoring the environment.

In the trial, the blue-green algae situation was monitored with a drone and computer vision. The camera and sensor -equipped drone was flown over the Baltic Sea, and the high-resolution video was transmitted over 5G for real-time analysis.
