Vaisala offers two dedicated Maritime Weather System Trainings for customers who want to deepen their understanding of their installed systems or explore the capabilities of Vaisala maritime solutions. The trainings can also introduce HMS Elements helideck monitoring software, showing how it supports safe and efficient offshore operations. Each course combines theory with demonstrations and extensive hands‑on practice on real equipment, giving participants the skills needed to perform periodic maintenance, diagnose common faults, and ensure reliable, compliant operation in harsh marine conditions.

Through expert instruction, guided exercises, and open discussions, the trainings provide a practical forum to learn best practices directly from Vaisala specialists and peers. Participants leave with a clearer understanding of how to keep their maritime weather systems performing at their best throughout the lifecycle – supporting safer operations, minimizing downtime, and securing the quality of weather and met‑ocean data for their organization.

What are the courses available?

Training	Length	By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
AWS430 Training Course	2 days	Understand basic operating principles Perform preventive and periodic maintenance on the system. Perform calibration procedures that ensure consistently accurate sensor readings. Apply basic troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve common sensor issues. Carry out performance checks on the major sensors. Identify the main warranty replacement issues for AWS sensors.
AWS830 Training Course	3 days	Describe the overall architecture and purpose of the AWS830 Maritime Automatic Weather Station, including key components such as sensors, enclosures, and the DMU801 data management unit. Operate the AWS830 using the available user interfaces (e.g. Web UI and Kaiku), including how to view measurement data and system status, and configure key parameters such as site settings, communication settings, and data reporting options. Verify correct system operation after installation or configuration changes. Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks Apply structured troubleshooting approaches to the AWS830 Service and replace modular components of the AWS830 following recommended procedures to minimize downtime and support long‑term system durability.

Note: Since many maritime systems use Elements HMS, this module can also be added to the course. The final agenda and total duration will be confirmed based on the customer’s system and training needs.
