Maritime Weather Training
Vaisala Maritime weather systems, including the Vaisala Maritime Observation System AWS430 and the next‑generation Vaisala Maritime Automatic Weather Station AWS830, are designed for demanding offshore and marine environments where safe, efficient operations depend on reliable, real‑time weather and met‑ocean data. They provide critical information on key parameters such as wind, pressure, temperature, humidity, visibility, and sea state to support vessels, platforms, and coastal installations in day‑to‑day and mission‑critical decision‑making.
Vaisala offers two dedicated Maritime Weather System Trainings for customers who want to deepen their understanding of their installed systems or explore the capabilities of Vaisala maritime solutions. The trainings can also introduce HMS Elements helideck monitoring software, showing how it supports safe and efficient offshore operations. Each course combines theory with demonstrations and extensive hands‑on practice on real equipment, giving participants the skills needed to perform periodic maintenance, diagnose common faults, and ensure reliable, compliant operation in harsh marine conditions.
Through expert instruction, guided exercises, and open discussions, the trainings provide a practical forum to learn best practices directly from Vaisala specialists and peers. Participants leave with a clearer understanding of how to keep their maritime weather systems performing at their best throughout the lifecycle – supporting safer operations, minimizing downtime, and securing the quality of weather and met‑ocean data for their organization.
What are the courses available?
| Training | Length | By the end of the course, participants should be able to: |
| AWS430 Training Course | 2 days |
|
| AWS830 Training Course | 3 days |
|
Note: Since many maritime systems use Elements HMS, this module can also be added to the course. The final agenda and total duration will be confirmed based on the customer’s system and training needs.
Who are the courses for?
The courses are ideal existing maritime customers, including:
- Maintenance technicians and engineers responsible for AWS430, AWS830, and associated sensors and infrastructure.
- Operational personnel working with maritime weather data in roles such as marine operations, offshore logistics, helideck operations, and marine meteorology.
- Technical staff who support and maintain hardware (sensors, masts, communication devices) and/or system software that uses Vaisala maritime weather and met‑ocean data.
We train according to your needs
We have many product-specific courses that can be taught at delivery, or used to refresh your staff’s knowledge of existing equipment. Each course covers clearly defined topics, and the content and duration can be tailored to match your specific operational, technical, and regulatory requirements.
