Giant leaps and lasting impact: Reflecting on our summer internship program

Summer 2025 showcased the breadth and ambition of our Giant Leap internship program. From business development strategies to machine learning forecasting models, our interns tackled projects that have a real impact.

These internship projects were far more than academic exercises. They addressed genuine challenges that shape how we deliver solutions to customers and advance our mission of taking every measure for the planet. Each intern brought fresh perspectives to complex problems, often finding approaches that surprised even our experienced teams.

The program continues to evolve, reflecting our commitment to providing meaningful experiences that benefit both the interns and Vaisala. Watching these talented individuals grow over just three months reinforces why investing in the next generation matters so much. 

As my Giant Leap internship wrapped up, I am grateful for an experience that combined fast-paced learning with a mission that truly matters.

During my project, I developed a solution designed to help product managers plan go-to-market strategies more efficiently and with greater consistency. This project challenged me to think strategically while diving deep into customer needs and market dynamics.

Along the way, I had the chance to research, interview colleagues and customers, and see how deeply customer insights shape Vaisala's solutions. What I discovered is that talking to customers really is more than half the solution. Their perspectives shaped my approach and outcomes in ways I had not anticipated.

What impressed me most was the Vaisala culture. It is built on trust, collaboration, and integrity. From team members to vice presidents, everyone was approachable and willing to help.
