Riku Hakala (R&D Manager, Vaisala Industrial Measurements), Niina Kajovuori (Test Automation Engineer) and Ossi Ouri (Senior Test Automation Engineer) tell more about what fascinating tasks await the Giant Leaper. - - - Vaisala develops and manufactures different probes that are used to measure a wide range of physical quantities like temperature, carbon dioxide and relative humidity. In order to update our product offering and to improve customer experience, we are now developing a new host device with a display for our measurement probes. The device under development has a local touch screen display which can be used to operate the device and show measurement data, for example. The future Giant Leap intern will get to work with this host device project and concentrate on local display test automation. At the moment test automation is a definite megatrend in testing domain and the primary focus of this Giant Leap project is to minimize all manual testing efforts related to a touch screen and display testing. The goal is to create test setup and software for controlling and analyzing basic user interface elements on local display. The intern gets to study and identify different test automation approaches and select the most suitable one for this purpose. If you apply and start in our project, you will have a lot of freedom to study the topic, but our highly competent and agile software team is here to support you as well. It is a great benefit, if you are familiar with programming in a Linux environment, are interested in user interface test automation and can work independently. Giant Leap is Vaisala's internship program for 3+ year students in a university or polytechnic. We'll hire up to 20 students for a period of three months over the summer to our head office in Vantaa Finland and our US head office in Louisville, Colorado.
