Be Our Rainmaker
All of us wish we could control weather. Now you have a chance to do it – in a sense. In Vaisala’s next summer Giant Leap internship project “Rain Measurement Reference”, you can make rain. Senior Scientist Jarmo Hietanen and Development Manager Kimmo Antikainen tell more about what it means to be a rainmaker in Vaisala.
Not many people wish for rain during the summer time, but now we offer you the chance to be our rainmaker – literally. However, we are not talking about magic or weather forecasting, but this project is based purely on science.
In the “Rain Measurement Reference” project, you will study ways to create artificial rain. The project consists of analyzing, prototyping, and testing different methods. The outcome is a proposal for rain measurement reference, which is used to develop and test Vaisala’s high quality instruments.
You will get the rare opportunity to work in a rain tower, the number of which can be counted with one hand globally. As such, this is a unique test facility, and to develop that further is an exciting opportunity for a future researcher.
To succeed in this unique environment, you should not be afraid of getting wet, obviously. In addition, you should have a study background in electrical engineering, measurement techniques, or physics, coupled with an analytical mindset and a hands-on attitude. We await your applications!
Application period has ended (Feb 11)!
