Vaisala unveils next-generation Helideck Monitoring Software to optimize offshore operations

On 5th May 2025, Vaisala announced its Vaisala Elements Helideck Monitoring Software, the first and only software to seamlessly integrate high-resolution vertical wind profiling from the WindCube® lidar suite, advanced lightning detection, and both graphical and data forecasts from Vaisala Xweather.

Built for offshore helideck safety

Vaisala Elements is an integral part of the comprehensive Vaisala Helideck Monitoring System (HMS), compliant with UK CAA CAP 437, UK HCA HMS Revision 9c, NORMAM-27, BSL-D-5-1 and NORSOK standards.

Designed to enhance situational awareness and flight safety, it features a modern user interface with separate pre-approach and on-deck displays, Motion Severity Index, Wind Severity Index and Relative Wind Direction parameters, and optional lightning detection, forecasts and vertical wind profile data from Vaisala Windcube Offshore lidar. The software can also control helideck motion status repeater light signals.

The user-friendly interface empowers decision-makers with a real-time data display, reporting tools for displaying meteorological and environmental data, and critical alarms to quickly check data and helideck status from anywhere via a PC, tablet, or mobile device. You can also securely share information with other offshore stakeholders during critical weather situations.
