Most of us only see and use the end result of a product or system without realizing how much time and effort goes into developing something brand new. Product and system development, however, takes years and involves also careful and extensive testing all throughout the project.
At Vaisala, testing is an integral part of product development. We have dedicated testing resources to make sure that everything works as intended in the said conditions. Vaisala test engineers observe the robustness and operation of the device in different conditions. They also check that the device fulfills the specifications.
Testing benefits our customers and also our development engineers who get valuable information for future improvements.
Testing in Real Conditions
The products undergo various test in real operating conditions, from temperature tests where the temperature changes rapidly from cold to hot and to very dry to mechanical tests that include random and sinusoidal vibration tests and free falls with the transportation box. Also product material is tested thoroughly before selecting the right one. Products are always designed with usability in mind. For products meeting the Ex standards requirements, rigorous testing in real operating conditions is mandatory.

Safety for People and Environment
To ensure that our products are safe for people and the environment, we set strict requirements during the product design process for the materials used in our products. We analyze the components early on in the new product development process to ensure compliance. Between 2016 and 2018, our product engineers analyzed more than 20,000 components used in our product portfolio. We cooperate with our component suppliers to ensure that the components delivered to Vaisala contain only allowed materials. We select new suppliers carefully and ensure that they meet our strict requirements.
