Mark Goldstein

Lead State Snow & Ice Engineer, Massachusetts Department of Transportation

Mark Goldstein is MassDOT’s Lead Statewide Snow & Ice Engineer. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brown University in the concentration of Business Economics and his Master of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

He has been with MassDOT for over a decade and worked in their Environmental Services Department before joining Operations and Maintenance as the Snow & Ice Program Coordinator. He now serves as the Statewide Snow & Ice Engineer and enjoys utilizing the latest strategies and technologies to increase efficiency in MassDOT’s Snow & Ice Program. 

Rachel Adams

Head of Winter Maintenance, Digital Services

Rachel has over 25 years’ experience in understanding the impact of weather on the roadway. An Environmental Science and Geography honours graduate, with a post-graduate diploma in Marketing, Rachel started working at Vaisala in 1994 in the Thermal Mapping team. It was through this experience that she learnt the fundamental importance of the impact of weather on roadway mobility and safety.

Since then, she has been privileged to work with and learn from transportation professionals throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas. Today, Rachel leads Digital product development for winter maintenance, focusing on data-driven solutions delivering road weather intelligence to support highway operators to make decisions that minimize the impact of weather on mobility and safety.

Elina Heed, Vaisala

Sales Manager, Vaisala

Elina Heed is the Sales Manager for Vaisala’s Ground Transportation business in the Nordics. Elina has over 20 years of experience in road weather. With a Master of Science degree in Meteorology, Elina began her career as an on-duty road weather meteorologist. Prior to joining the Vaisala team, Elina worked at the Foreca Sweden office as a Country Manager and team lead for winter maintenance. Through her sales role, she has been in direct contact with winter maintenance customers around the world. She has deep expertise in digital decision support systems for winter maintenance.
