Chair and CEO's Review 2025

Growth in a changing business environment

The global business landscape remained uncertain in 2025. Geopolitical tensions, trade policy shifts, and currency fluctuations continued to shape markets worldwide. Despite these headwinds, Vaisala demonstrated resilience and adaptability, delivering solid performance. Our net sales grew by 6% to EUR 596.9 million, and we maintained strong profitability with 15.8% EBITA margin.

After two slower years, Industrial Measurements returned to growth in 2025, providing customers with insights into critical processes that optimize resource use and drive decarbonization. Weather and Environment sales also grew, despite challenges in the renewable energy markets. Subscription sales and large project deliveries fueled this growth, helping customers adapt to climate risks and extreme weather.

Focused strategy execution across a balanced portfolio

Throughout 2025, we executed our strategy to drive sustainable growth as a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence for climate action. Our balanced portfolio of complementary businesses creates resilience through different business models and industry cycles.

Industrial Measurements achieved strong growth and launched new products and services for growing market segments. We also enhanced our service offering with Vaisala Circular, a new service that advances circular economy principles.

In Weather and Environment, we strengthened our position as a global leader in weather and climate observations, delivering large projects that improve weather monitoring capabilities worldwide. We expanded our Xweather subscription business and strengthened our leadership in AI-driven weather forecasting for businesses. Moreover, we successfully integrated WeatherDesk and Speedwell Climate, both acquired in late 2024, into Xweather. This enhances our offerings for customers in the insurance, finance, and energy sectors.

Technology leadership and excellence in supply chain

To maintain our position as a technology and market leader, we continued to invest significantly in research and development. In 2025, we allocated 11% of our net sales to R&D. We launched several new products, including a next-generation measurement probe for enhanced dry room control, an advanced hail forecasting and alert solution, and the latest evolution of our industry-leading wind lidar.

Furthermore, we continuously develop our operations to drive excellence throughout the supply chain. The completion of our automated logistics center in Vantaa was an important milestone in 2025. The new facility centralizes our logistics operations in Finland and uses advanced automation technology to support fast, reliable, and efficient deliveries to customers around the world.

Commitment to sustainability across the value chain

Our commitment to sustainability covers our solutions, our own operations, and our value chain. We continue to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our strategy and product development, and we remain committed to the UN Global Compact initiative and its 10 principles regarding human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption.

We continued advancing our climate work in line with our science-based targets. Our focus remained on scope 3 emissions, which represent the vast majority of our total footprint. We took action to reduce emissions through multiple approaches: designing new products with lower energy consumption and smaller carbon footprints, as well as identifying and implementing emission reduction opportunities together with our suppliers. Compared to the 2021 base year, scope 1 and 2 emissions were 22% lower, and scope 3 emissions relative to gross profit were 33% lower.

People at the heart of our success

Our progress would not be possible without our professional and dedicated global team. In our annual Voice of People survey, 81% of employees (2024: 84%) said they are proud to work for Vaisala.

In 2025, we continued to strengthen employee development and capabilities that support our strategy: customer understanding and commercial excellence, product and technology leadership, and supply chain excellence. We also continued to build a practical approach to AI in daily work, with clear expectations for responsible use, data security, and quality. Alongside engagement, we keep investing in learning and personal growth so that Vaisala remains a place where expertise and performance keep developing over time.

Looking ahead

In 2026, we expect the uncertainty in the global business landscape to continue. Trade policy shifts, economic nationalism, and regionalization are here to stay. At the same time, as climate change continues to advance, accurate measurements and reliable data to enable climate action are more important than ever.

As we enter the new year, we want to thank our customers, partners, shareholders, and colleagues for their trust and cooperation. We look forward to continuing to build on Vaisala’s technology leadership and our purpose of Taking every measure for the planet, together.
