Carbon capture

Vaisala's Antti Heikkilä has been invited to deliver the opening presentation on the final day of the Global CemCCUS Conference on May 15th in Vienna, Austria. With the cement and lime industries responsible for around 8% of global CO2 emissions, the event will focus on Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration (CCUS) technologies.

In line with Vaisala's stated purpose, Taking every measure for the planet, Antti describes the importance of measurements in carbon capture processes at cement plants. In particular, he presents how real-time monitoring can help to improve decarbonization efficiency, emissions mitigation, and the reporting and verification of CO2 capture in CCUS systems.

From a monitoring perspective, cement plants present a range of challenges, and Antti's presentation covers how these challenges can be addressed using Vaisala's advanced measurement technologies. This includes in-line measurement probes that have been developed specifically for carbon capture processes.

In addition to the role of measurement in carbon capture, Antti's presentation also covers measurement applications within storage and utilization processes such as methanation and concrete carbonation.
