Vaisala was recognized as a climate leader in CDP’s* recent report on the environmental sustainability of global supply chains. The report highlights the lack of resilience against climate change risks in USA, Brazil, China and India.

“We provide annual carbon emission data to CDP as requested by some of our longstanding customers. Several of our largest customers have very high expectations for their suppliers and have ambitious reduction targets for their supply chains”, Tomi Rintanen, Sustainability Manager, explains.

Vaisala has mitigated its carbon footprint in recent years by investing in energy efficient equipment in the operations and facilities, as well as in teleconferencing solutions that are available to all staff. Having achieved its energy saving target of 9% by 2016 already in 2013, Vaisala has been highlighted as a climate leader together with some of the world’s largest corporations.

Measuring environmental impacts from the supply chain is a step towards realizing the whole impacts of a business.

* CDP, formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, runs its supply chain program to better understand how global businesses are managing climate risks and how they are positioned to exploit the associated opportunities – and to encourage both purchasing companies and their suppliers to take action. The report has been produced at the request of 66 multinational purchasers who work with CDP to better understand and manage the environmental impacts of their supply chains and have a procurement spend of US$1.3 trillion. Vaisala responds to the supply chain program on the request of its customers.
