Understanding PM emission sources and dispersion in the mining industry

Mining is central to economies around the world, but digging into the earth also produces a health hazard: dust.

Now there’s a better way to track dust plumes in mining

Mining is central to economies around the world, but digging into the earth also produces a health hazard: dust. When it travels through the air to nearby communities, dust and other particulate matter (PM) emissions pose major risks to human health.

Mining organizations work hard to mitigate dust plumes through strategies including large amounts of water spray. Weather makes tracking and mitigation a moving target, however, as hard-to-predict wind blows emissions in different directions and concentrations.

Current strategies using PM monitors don’t tell the whole story of where the dust plumes originate, concentrate and travel. Now there’s a better way using Doppler wind lidar.

Download this free guide and discover how lidar provides efficient ways to:

  • Focus dust mitigation efforts
  • Track their effectiveness
  • Save a significant amount of water and other resources
