Mikko Krapu leads the strategy and direction of Vaisala’s precipitation, wind, and multi-weather sensor portfolio, uniting cutting-edge science, R&D, and a deep understanding of operational needs to shape the next generation of environmental observation. Over a 25-year career across three companies, he has guided advanced measurement technologies from early invention through development, launch, and global scale-up, collaborating closely with national meteorological services, customers, and partners worldwide. He holds a Master of Science in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Helsinki.
Scott Mackaro, Ph.D.
Scott Mackaro is the Chief Science Officer for Vaisala Xweather. He is an established leader in the Atmospheric Science community, specializing in the areas of predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, machine learning, environmental monitoring, and their commercial applications. At Xweather, he brings together science, business, and technology to develop innovative solutions to some of humanity’s greatest challenges.
Mackaro received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2001 and his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2003 and 2008 respectively. He also holds business certificates from Harvard Business School Online.
