Abstract: Xcel Energy improves transformer fault assessments using online DGA monitoring
This case study goes over the Xcel Energy Substation Field Engineering team’s steps to (1) identify a faulty transformer with “offline” DGA lab sampling; (2) analyze the issue with additional tests and what these showed; (3) determine why a decision to install online DGA monitoring was made. And in closing to (4) shows the results of the case study and the lessons learned. Presented by Colby Morris of Xcel in conjunction with Mark Gross of Vaisala Inc.
