Weather and Environment Business Area serves selected environmental and weather-dependent markets where accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations and make informed decisions.

Customer groups

The customers include meteorological institutes, road and rail authorities, airport organizations, and defense forces. Renewable energy, smart city, and maritime industries represent the business area's private sector customers. Weather and Environment provides products and solutions to support the customers' operational decision making under any weather conditions, without compromising safety.


Weather and Environment Business Area is organized under four regions:

  • Americas
  • Europe
  • Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and Africa
  • China

Additionally, Weather and Environment Business Area separates its product and service offering into two business lines, which are responsible for product management, application expertise´, and R&D:

  • Products and Systems
    responsible for Weather and Environment Business Area's hardware and software products, consists of Soundings, Weather Radars, Weather Instruments, Wind Lidars, and Weather Systems product areas.
  • Vaisala Digital
    responsible for hosted services, decision support systems and consulting offering, consists of Renewable Energy, Transportation, Air Quality, and Lightning application areas.

Industrial Measurements Business Area

The Industrial Measurements’ products improve quality, productivity, energy efficiency, and help our customers fulfill regulatory compliance. Our customers operate in different types of environments – from semi-conductor factories and high-rise buildings to power plants and small incubators – where reliable measuring and monitoring of the ambient conditions are a prerequisite for successful operations. Our products and systems are used to measure and monitor temperature, humidity, dew point, pressure, carbon dioxide, moisture in oil and dissolved gases in transformer oil.
