Severe Weather API

Get proactive alerts and accurate data so you can stay ahead of risky, severe weather conditions anywhere in the world.

    Proactive alerting

The Severe Weather API provides accurate, prompt severe-weather data and alerts for any location worldwide via one simple interface. It gives users the advance notice and detail they need for proactive decision-making. The API promptly provides severe weather forecast data and alerts using the GeoJSON format, which simplifies data visualization.

    Locally adjusted

The API classifies weather severity based on what is typical in a given region, avoiding over- or under-emphasizing certain weather phenomena and their significance levels.

The significance of weather phenomena is classified by using color codes (yellow, orange, red) which are in relation to possible harmfulness for people and property:

    • Yellow — Severe weather advisory: Be aware and stay informed with local weather information and governmental warnings.
    • Orange — Severe weather alert: Be prepared and reconsider your outdoor and traveling plans. Stay informed with local weather information and governmental warnings.
    • Red — Extreme weather alert: Take action to keep safe and weatherproof your property. Stay informed with local weather information and governmental warnings.
