In-line grape sugar content measurement in wine production

Sweetness of grapes defines the wine taste as the final alcohol in the wine is given by the sugar content in the grape. Batch production of wines with sugar variations in batches requires a reliable continuous measurement of sugar concentration in order to define the price of grapes for the producer.

In-line Oechsle, Brix, Baumé or specific gravity measurement in grape must

Download the application note to learn how Vaisala Polaris Sanitary Refractometer is used to continuously measure the sugar concentration in each batch of the mashed grape. The sweetness or sugar content of the grapes is measured in terms of °Oechsle, °Brix, °Baumé, specific gravity or any other concentration density unit used by a customer. The must obtained from the grapes contains seeds and peel which however have no impact on the real-time measurement by our in-line refractometer due to the digital sensing technology.
