What are the limits of VaiNet/viewLinc 5.0 (wireless range, placement of AP10s)?

POWER: The VaiNet RFL100 wireless data loggers require very low power. Each logger uses two standard AA alkaline batteries.
RANGE: VaiNet uses LoRa wireless technology running about 900 mHz. The low-frequency signal provides a very long-range (> 300 ft.) of communication. The signal is excellent at penetrating walls, shelves, other Wi-Fi network signals, human beings, etc.
ACCESSORIES: One Vaisala AP10 (access point) will support up to (32) RFL100 loggers.

What version of viewLinc supports VaiNet?

Only the latest version: viewLinc 5.0. Enterprise Server Software.

If a viewLinc upgrade is necessary, would it be an in-place upgrade ?

Yes, upgrading to viewLinc 5.0 would be similar to any upgrade you may have done in past, say from viewLinc 3.6 to version 4.3. See viewLinc 5.0 data sheet for server requirements.

We have an existing system. Can we set up non-networked 5.0 version with VaiNet for Proof of Concept?

Yes, you can create a standalone system at your facility on an independent laptop or desktop computer for a Proof of Concept study. In addition, you can contact sales to get a tour of the software interface in real-time at our own testing facilities.
