“Optical Gas Measurements for New Business” counts among next summer’s Giant Leap internship projects. The project leads, Tuomas Mäkelä and Jenni Brunila (both Managers in New Business Development), tell more about the project and the team.
If you’re interested optical gas measurements, this is the role for you. The project is agile, with a combination of both technical and business work. The tasks you work with are clearly framed, but as it is part of a wider initiative you will also get to see the big picture.
The aim of the project is to expand the capabilities of Vaisala’s current optical gas measurement. In order to achieve this goal, you will conduct studies on certain applications and their businesses. If there is one word to describe this project, it is benchmarking.
In the technical part of the project, you will get the opportunity to work in a laboratory: you will evaluate measurement performance by carrying out laboratory measurements and field testing. In the business part, you will be more focused on data collection and analysis, combining it together with the technical results. Reporting these results and findings form a crucial part of the project.
Everyday work in the team in fast-paced and energized: there is an overall positive drive in the team. Collaboration lies at the core. In this role, you will truly have the opportunity to work and co-operate both with top scientists and the new business development team.
We hope you have a curious mindset and outlook to your work. To succeed in this project, you should have technical background. Business studies are a plus.
