Working at Vaisala

“Future Transmitter IoT Proof of Concept” is one of the Software and IT Development projects in Vaisala’s Giant Leap internship program next summer 2018. Mikko Jalonen, R&D Project Manager, tells about the core of the project.

You may have heard of IoT – the Internet of Things. It is everywhere, enabling us to link different appliances and devices with each other so that they can function and be controlled through a network. It is all about connectivity, and so is this Giant Leap project: you get to study a technical solution in order to bring and utilize measurement data in the cloud.

Furthermore, you will create a live demo of the cloud-based product solution. The project is part of an actual development program of a future product, and as such it gives you the unique opportunity to deep-dive into our upcoming offering in the Industrial Measurements Business Area.

R&D has truly had a significant role in Vaisala’s history, and it is indeed a major factor in this project as well. The project team consists both of R&D professionals: software designers, architects and other highly skilled specialists. Thus we all share the Vaisala spirit of curiosity and engagement, truly committed to what we do. The inspiring atmosphere and the support of colleagues are the backbone of our way of working.

The ideal candidate has a background in software, having studied Information Technologies or Computational Science for example, and shares our values of curiosity and innovation. We look for technical knowledge of IoT and its challenges, coupled with genuine passion for product development.

Application period has ended (Feb 11)!
