Sensor Monitoring

All Sensor data that is ingested into the Vaisala Oracle Database is quality checked every 90 seconds by the Vaisala Sensor Monitoring software. Pre-defined thresholds determine the validity of the sensor readings. These thresholds can be adjusted to reflect location, seasonality and any other affecting factor. All "Suspected" faults appear in the Sensor Monitoring interface, which is monitored 24 hours a day by the Global HelpDesk. After investigation, the "Suspected" fault is given a new status of:

  • "Confirmed"
  • "Monitored"
  • "Fixed"
  • "Dismissed"

Each status triggers a new set of actions ranging from asking the client to visit to check for damage and to reset the site, to a callout from a Vaisala engineer or subcontractor. All actions regarding the fault are logged to provide a full and easily accessible audit trail. The customer is kept abreast of all actions on the fault either through phone, fax, automatically generated email reports or daily reports that can be viewed through the IceCast Viewer software.

Sensor Monitoring is an invaluable tool that ensures reliable, continuous data for the customer, making it an integral part of the Global Bureau system.
