Vaisala AWOS Maintenance

Vaisala’s philosophy is that a well-managed, proactive maintenance program provides the best service at a manageable cost.  Proactive maintenance means monitoring the AWOS for errors and alarms and responding before the customer experiences downtime.  The FAA requires that all AWOS have an AWOS Maintenance Technician of Record beginning at the time of commissioning for the life of the AWOS.  Vaisala technicians are AWOS manufacturer, FAA, FCC, and VSAT certified.  Our technicians are dedicated to a high level of service and accountability.  Vaisala currently maintains over 200 non-federal AWOS nationwide and is staffed with in-house technicians who are trained to maintain the following AWOS models:

  • Vaisala – VB, VC, and VD
  • All Weather, Inc./Qualimetrics  – Models 200, 400, 900
  • NEXWOS
  • Handar

Vaisala’s AWOS Maintenance Program includes:

  • 24-hour remote monitoring
  • Initial response time of less than 24 hours during normal business hours
  • Four scheduled visits per year – 3 quarterly inspections and 1 annual inspection with the FAA
  • All on demand visits *

Live telephone customer service support during normal business hours from our Minneapolis and Boulder locations.

*Damage caused by lightning, weather, vandalism, negligence, non-Vaisala personnel moving any equipment related to the AWOS or other damage caused by humans is not covered under the monthly service and maintenance fee.  Vaisala will perform these repairs at your request on a time and materials basis.  Each airport should have insurance on their AWOS to cover these incidents.

Vaisala understands how costly an AWOS outage can be for your airport.  Your airport community relies on your AWOS to be functioning at all times.  Our proactive maintenance program and quick response time are designed to serve your airport as quickly as possible.

Contact Vaisala today to determine how a proactive maintenance program would benefit your airport.
