Vaisala AWOS Installation Services

Vaisala provides full service AWOS installations. Vaisala has been involved in the AWOS business since the first system installation at the Shenandoah Valley Airport, Virginia in 1979. Each AWOS installation crew receives in-house project management support. Vaisala project managers handle the problems that arise during an installation allowing the installation crew to continue their work in the field. Our team effort allows our employees to meet deadlines, stay focused and complete installations in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

While many airports utilize Vaisala’s turnkey installation capabilities, Vaisala is also available for services individually. Vaisala knows that installing an AWOS is a complex process and offers individual services to assist other aviation professionals with the technical and highly specialized aspects of AWOS installations.

Vaisala offers the following installation services contracted as a package or individually.

Project Management
Siting the location to meet meteorological, FAA, FCC and manufacturer standards
7460 (Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration) submittal to the FAA
Coordination between the State, the FAA, the FCC and the airport sponsor
Management of subcontractors
Installation of the meteorological equipment including sensors, foundations, antennas, tower, radio, etc.
Coordinating UHF and VHF license approvals
Commissioning inspection and NOTAM coordination
