Pilots and
airport personnel make critical decisions based on the weather. Vaisala’s
Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) are pilot’s reliable guide through
ever-changing weather conditions, so informed decisions can be made with
confidence. There are more than 700 Vaisala AWOS are currently operating
throughout North America. Large state networks vary in size from 10 to more
than 60 systems and are installed in Minnesota, Virginia, North Carolina,
Maryland, Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Tennessee, Michigan,
Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Colorado.
Vaisala Line of FAA approved AWOS Systems
Vaisala
provides a complete line of AWOS systems as well as upgrades to incorporate new
features. As an airport grows, its needs change. Vaisala ensures the AWOS is
configured to meet the growing needs of any facility.
AWOS I
Provides current altimeter setting, density altitude, temperature, dew point,
and wind speed, direction, and gust.
AWOS II
Provides all AWOS I features plus visibility.
AWOS III
Provides all AWOS II features plus cloud height and sky condition.
AWOS IIIP
Provides all AWOS III features plus precipitation
identification and intensity
AWOS IIIT
Provides all AWOS III features plus thunderstorm
reporting.
AWOS IIIPT
Provides all AWOS III features plus precipitation identification and intensity,
and thunderstorm reporting.
