Product Leadership

Technology development

The sensor or the sensing element is crucial for the performance and stability of every measurement instrument. For years, Vaisala has developed a range of patented sensor technologies that are unique to Vaisala instruments. These technologies include thin film and silicon microsensors, ultrasonics, optics and techniques for measuring absorption and atmospheric scattering. Our efforts in improving and developing new types of sensing technology are well known by meteorologists and industrial users.

Excellent application knowledge

Vaisala has extensive knowledge of measurement applications, and applies this in the development of new measuring instruments. Vaisala places emphasis on studying customers’ needs, product compatibility, safety and the environmental requirements of every application. Vaisala has accumulated decades of experience. As the market leader, Vaisala has excellent contacts, and co-operates with research institutes throughout the world.

Rigorous field testing

Every product is tested extensively , both in the laboratory and in the field. Vaisala is equipped with a range of environmental test chambers and facilities for the testing of EMC, vibration, salt mist, wind and rain, and carries out qualification testing. Products’ beta units are tested at Vaisala’s field test site, and by pilot customers. Projects are systematic and well documented; all stages and tests are documented in accordance with ISO9001.

Superior quality

Vaisala produces high quality products, and to ensure good productivity uses automated and semi-automated test and calibration systems that are traceable to international measurement standards. Test results are electronically archived, so that the production history and properties of individual products can be accessed at any time.
