For precipitation measurement Vaisala offers the Vaisala Weather Transmitter WXT510 which includes the unique Vaisala RAINCAP® Sensor or the Vaisala All Weather Precipitation Gauge VRG101. Compared to traditional precipitation gauges, the Vaisala RAINCAP® Sensor gives more detailed information about precipitation, identifying 5 types of liquid precipitation and hail. It measures accumulated rain fall, rain intensity and duration — all in real time.  The Vaisala RAINCAP® Sensor is the only maintenance-free precipitation sensor on the market.

The advanced mechanical design of the VRG101 means that the performance remains unaffected in the most severe weather conditions that are known to be problematic for conventional rain gauges.
