Marine observations

Meteorological needs on the water are complex, and every ship or platform has a different set of needs. Over the past several decades, hundreds of turnkey and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Vaisala marine observation systems have been put to use worldwide by meteorological institutes, research and commercial vessels, and offshore platforms.

Vaisala has taken a leadership position in recognizing the role of the oceans in global climate, supplying COTS and turnkey systems alike to ships participating in climate information feedback programs such as the Voluntary Observing Ships’ (VOS) program and VOS Climate projects (VOSClim).
