Is TDL(Tunable Diode Laser) a completely new technology?

The basic principles of tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) were developed in the 1970s. The first commercial analyzers based on this technology appeared in the marketplace in the 1980s. The SPECTRACAP® sensor represents a new class of TDL based instruments, characterized by small size and ease of installation.
