How will dust and dirt affect the measurement for the SPECTRACAP® oxygen sensor?

The SPECTRACAP® sensor uses an optical signal to measure oxygen and requires adequate optical transmission through two different surfaces that are exposed to the gas being measured. There are two types of protection against the effects of dust and dirt in the SPECTRACAP® sensor. The first is mechanical filtering. The probe is equipped with a stainless steel mesh filter (300 µm filtering) and an optional hydrophobic PTFE filter (average pore size 8 µm). The second type of protection is the measurement algorithm itself, which can tolerate up to 90 % loss of optical transmission without interrupting the measurement. The OMT355 will issue a warning signal when optical transmission is reduced to 50%.
