CO2 soil respiration

The CO2 respiration from soil is a good indicator of overall biological activity of the soil, and is often used when studying the carbon cycle. The CO2 flux can be measured on the soil surface in respiration chambers. Belowground CO2 profile measurements can be made at variable depths in the soil.
