Vaisala Veriteq viewLinc Errata

Errata for viewLinc 4.0.0.

PDF version of this Errata (for previous viewLinc errata, see links below.)

General:

  • To ensure data timestamp accuracy, verify that the viewLinc server time is set accurately before installing the viewLinc software. The viewLinc server and logger host should also be set to have their time synchronized with an accurate source at least once a day.
  • viewLinc is shipped with a private key for testing purposed when using SSL. This key is for testing only and should be replaced following installation with a trusted key using the IT departments preferred method.
  • When you mouse over a dashboard location the tooltips titles are displaying the 'Channel Description' instead of the 'Location Description', making it difficult to determine the actual location of the dashboard item. This issue has been fixed in the current maintenance patch.
  • The channel history report prefixes long location and zone names with an ellipsis (…), truncating the beginning of the string. The current patch will wrap these long names into multiple lines preserving the full location and zone names.
  • A situation has been detected wherein the Admin user can permanently delete a zone containing attached locations from the locations manager. This issue has been fixed in the current maintenance patch.
  • A situation has been detected where Users with Windows Authentication enabled may cause the service to crash. This issue has been fixed in the current maintenance patch.

    Help:
  •  The ‘Add topic to favorite’ tab button does not work in Internet Explorer 6.
  • The www.vaisala.com/lifescience-hitech link does not display properly in Internet Explorer 6.

    UI:
  • Internet Explorer 9 is only supported in compatibility mode.
  •  Internet Explorer 9 has a memory leak that may require the browser to be closed/re-opened on a daily basis. This only occurs on systems with large (>500) location counts.
  • The Events location filter will not identify all location related events generated by the Locations Manager tree editing. To filter these events the text filter should be used.
  • Editing the Device and/or Device channel description on a remote host may cause a short communication alarm on that device.

    Alarms:
  •  When using the ‘Acknowledge all Off Alarms’ command (Administrators only) in the Alarm window, if there is a very large alarm count, the command may timeout and indicate an error. The command will actually continue and succeed and will be correctly recorded in the Event log.

    System:
  • If the email server has intermittent connection problems, then emails sent during the connectivity problems may not be delivered. Use repeat alarm notifications to ensure delivery.
  • When using a device’s front panel to change the displayed units, the viewLinc UI does not automatically update the location. The device must be unlinked and linked again. It is not recommended to change device units without creating a new Location.

    Reporting:
  • When a manual report is started during a time when scheduled reports are running or other users are generating reports, the status of the manually generated report is listed as “Queued”. The status will remain “Queued” until the queue gets to this report. This could be a significant period of time depending on the size and quantity of reports already in the queue.
  • Due to the time required to generate reports, it is recommended that scheduled reports be set up to start during non-peak times and have at least 15 minutes between each report. This will reduce the chance of a scheduled report delaying a manually requested report. It is also best not to schedule reports with large data sets to start at the same time.
  • Blank pages may appear following the interval statistics tables if only one statistic is selected.

    Logger Swapping:
  • When swapping loggers it is important to allow the new Logger to come to equilibrium before placing it on the COM port. This will ensure that data recorded from outside of the environment is not included on reports.

    300 Series Transmitter:
  • The Firmware version must be 5.04 or later.
  • It is recommended to upgrade to firmware version 5.10 where it is possible (Please contact customer support if in doubt).
  • 300 Series Transmitters without LOGGER-1 modules do not support historical data backfill. If 300 Series Transmitters are configured with timeouts greater than the viewLinc scan period then brief configuration alarms may occur.

    POS:
  • The POS terminals will show alarms when alarms are detected, even if an alarm activation delay is set.

    Mobile UI:
  • If the viewLinc Confirm Identity setting is set to confirm identity after a certain period of time, the mobile UI will prevent any operation that requires authentication during that period of time.
  • 'No' button in the Confirm Logout window does not work.
