Vaisala’s core business is environmental measurement, especially weather measurement and chosen industrial measurements. Business is conducted by two business areas: Weather and Controlled Environment. The business areas are supported by the group wide functions: Products and Technology, Services and Operations.

Business Areas
Weather business area serves selected weather-dependent markets where accurate, real-time, uninterrupted and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations. The customers include meteorological institutes, roads and rail authoritites, airport organizations, and defense forces. Energy and maritime represent private sector customers. Weather provides products and solutions to support the customers' operational decision making under any weather conditions. Vaisala products and services enable the customers to make effective operational decisions under any weather conditions, without compromising safety.

Controlled Environment serves industrial customers in life science and targeted industrial applications segments. It offers a broad range of measurement instruments to ensure operational quality and productivity. 

Both business areas have dedicated sales teams to serve the respective market segments.

Group wide functions
Products and Technology is responsible for Vaisala's product creation and product management. Vaisala's product services and observation services are centralized into a group-wide Services unit. Operations comprises of purchasing, production and deliveries.
