I used to work in tourism business but at some point wanted to have more traditional "nine to five" schedule. I applied to a big B2B company and started as a department assistant. In the evenings I studied and after few years graduated as BBA in International Business. After my graduation I have had several demanding positions e.g. in e-business related projects, product marketing, internal marketing, business area marketing etc. Some years ago I noticed a job advertisement about a Marketing Specialist position at Vaisala and decided to apply.
I started as a Marketing Specialist in 2007. I wanted to gain wider experience about organizing events, making ads and brochures etc. In short, I wanted to do the practical side and really have my hands on in making the daily marketing happen. In 2008 Vaisala was reorganized and as part of that change I was nominated a Marketing Manager for one of our business areas. Now I' m leading a small team and taking care of one of our most demanding customer group.
Vaisala is a leader in environmental measurement: this means that we are daily working with issues like climate change research, weather and how people's lives are affected by these phenomenas. I have two children at home, so to me it counts knowing that my work has a meaning. I also like the fact that part of Vaisala's projects are not for seeking business possibilities but we do them in order to support the climate community. Professionally, I learn something new every day. We have to administrate the whole marketing field and the fact of having very capable colleagues gives you new insights daily. But it is not only this! Vaisala, as a company, is very innovative, so even the craziest ideas are not rejected immediately but discussed further. Therefore, you can really feel like making the difference in your job!
