In 2009, Vaisala launched nearly 20 new products, solutions or services, covering all product areas and market segments. The most significant launches were:
The Vaisala Global Lightning Dataset GLD360 provides real-time lightning data anywhere in the world. The network detects over two thirds of all ground-to-cloud lightning strikes providing peak current information of these events. The information covers oceanic and data-sparse regions where there is a shortage of real-time weather observations.
Vaisala SPECTRACAP® Oxygen Transmitter OMT364 is a new product for oxygen measurement in hazardous industrial processes. The nonincendive OMT364 is Factory Mutual (FM) approved for use in hazardous locations and is intended for the North American market. Typical applications for the OMT364 include inert gas blanketing and waste water treatment.
The new modular Vaisala Sigmet RVP900 signal processor platform is used in remote monitoring systems such as weather radars, windprofilers and lightning detection equipment.
The processor handles signals received by the systems and transforms the data into various user-friendly formats. RVP900 software with its high computational power improves data quality and multiplies data product offering.
Vaisala Barometric Pressure Transfer Standard PTB330TS is meant for reference measurement in field inspection and laboratory use. The toolkit is suitable for professional meteorology, aviation, laboratories and demanding industrial applications.
The Vaisala FALLS (Fault Analysis and Lightning Location System) provides electric utility engineers the ability to quickly and easily perform fault correlations with lightning events. Vaisala FALLS is used by he top revenue-generating electric utilities in the United States.
n January 2009, Vaisala announced its development of a reference radiosonde intended to support the precision measurement needs of the climate research and weather service communities.
